Question by : Can u help me with fixing smoothies?
I love drinking mango smoothies and I tried some from a local restaurant and loved them! The only problem is that they became expensive and so I started buying ingredients to make them at home. I bought real mango’s, put those, ice and soy milk (because that’s all that I can drink as far as milk goes) and mixed them together and that failed. So then I dumped that out (because the smoothie’s didn’t have any taste.) Then I tried Mango’s and ice – FAIL! Now I have bought Mango juice. Before I waste it please tell me how to use the mango juice to make the right tasting smoothie.

Were your mangos ripe? That will have a lot to do with the flavor. Unripe mangos will lack the flavor and sweetness needed to balance all of the other flavors. Often one type of fruit is not enough to achieve the level of sweetness in a smoothie. You can add honey or other fruits to your smoothie like bananas or strawberries or you can try flavored soy milk.

If you are going to use mango juice you may want to add something in there to thicken the smoothie since you will not have any pulp in the juice. Try a banana or avocado.

Here’s a simple recipe:

1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup peeled, pitted and sliced fresh mango
honey to taste
1/2 cup ice
Place the juice, fruit and honey in a blender. Blend on high speed for 30 seconds. Add the ice and blend until smooth.

Here’s a quick review of these different sweetners. i like to use them in my coffee or tea (hot/cold).
